In order to avoid any legal issues, it’s important to understand the basics of music licensing and how it applies to wedding films.

First and foremost, using copyrighted music in a wedding film without obtaining the proper licenses is illegal. This means that if a couple requests a specific song to be included in their wedding film, I must obtain the appropriate licenses before using it.

These licenses can be obtained through the copyright holder, typically the record label or publisher. However, obtaining these licenses can be time-consuming and costly, with most licensing fees exceeding $1000+ per song.

In order to protect myself against copyright infringement, fines and even lawsuits, I pay for a royalty free library of music called Musicbed. Even though they don’t offer many well-known songs, they still have an amazing selection of songs to choose from! You are more than welcome to browse Musicbed.com and offer suggestions on what song(s) or genres you’d like me to use for your video!
